A new life for you and your young adventurer

Your new puppy is adorable. The pair of you are madly in love, but reality is starting to kick in. How do you teach your puppy to wee in the right place … to bite toys not people … to walk calmly on the lead … to come back when you call … to learn the thousand-and-one little things that set you up for a lifetime of shared joy and companionship?

If the scale of the challenge ahead seems daunting, you’ve come to the right place. I can show you how to get your new life together off to a good start.

These are 1-2-1 training sessions that help you and your puppy become a team. They’re fun and practical, and they don’t assume that you have any prior experience of training. And it all takes place at your home – the one place where your puppy feels safe and confident.

The first step is a chat about the type of life you’re looking forward to with your dog and the puppy problems that are holding you back.

Puppy training FAQs

  • The earlier you start training your puppy, the better. The Your Young Adventurer puppy training programme is for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months old.

If you haven’t brought your puppy home yet then the Get Yourself Puppy-Ready programme will get you and your puppy off to the best start. And if your puppy is older than 5 months the Your Teenage Rascal programme is right for them.

  • All puppies are different so just because something worked with your last puppy doesn’t mean it will work with your new puppy. You might remember your last puppy being easy - but we usually look back on puppyhood with rose-tinted spectacles thinking it was easier than it really was. Also, puppy training is constantly changing as we learn more about dogs and puppy development. By having puppy training sessions with your new puppy you’ll know you’re getting the best, most modern advice on how to train your puppy.

  • Socialisation is much more than meeting lots of people and playing with other puppies. And no class is going to fully socialise you puppy. I’ll give you a socialisation activity every week to go and do between sessions. You’ll also get lots of advice about how to properly and safely socialise your puppy - whether or not they’re fully vaccinated yet.
